Jay Nicols enters his fourth year as Director of Sports Information at Lawrence Technological University. He was named full-time director in August of 2015. Prior to being named full-time director, Nicols was a graduate assitant in the sports information department at Lawrence Tech.
Before arriving at Lawrence Tech, Nicols was an intern at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky., where he learned under the leadership of Ike Pearson Award winner Chris Wells. At Lindsey Wilson, Nicols covered multiple sports including NAIA championship runs for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, baseball, and softball.
Nicols started his career in sports information at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Mich., as an undergraduate. At Siena Heights, Nicols was part of the creation of the Siena Heights Sports Network and assisted in the launch of football at the university. During this time, he also worked in the marketing office at Siena Heights creating schedule posters and video profiles for the university. On the side, Nicols wrote for the Adrian Telegram, covering Lenawee county high school and college sports as a special writer to the Telegram.
Nicols graduated from Siena Heights University with a degree in English: Communications and a minor in journalism. He currently resides in Hamtramck, Mich., with his dog Lloyd Christmas.
