Lady Blue Devils return to campus 2-0 with win over Holy Cross

NORTE DAME, IND. - Lawrence Tech women's soccer returns to Southfield after a two day road trip that concluded with a 3-1 win over Holy Cross College (0-1) on Aug. 17. The Lady Blue Devils are now 3-0 all-time against the Saints with a combined score, 11-1.

LTU (2-0) jumped out to an early lead when Nicole Propst (SO/Warren, MI) scored in the 14th minute - her third goal in two games. Less than two minutes later, Alex Eddington (JR/Saline, MI) gathered a long rebound off the goalkeeper and found the back of net for her first colligate goal.

26 minutes into the match, the Saints Benavides Carillo cut the deficit to one, sneaking the ball past goalie Heather Derstine (SO/Midland, MI). However, Amber Klavon (SR/Jackson, MI) and Sarah Britain (SO/Kalamazoo, MI) would team up to score just before halftime. A scoreless second half, gives the Lady Blue Devils its second straight win to start the 2014 campaign.

Lawrence Tech finished the match outshooting Holy Cross 23-15. Propst led the Blue Devils in shots with five - three on net. Midfielder Lisa Zaffina (JR/Waterford, MI) added two shots - one on goal and an assist. Derstine logged 90 minutes in net while making six stops in her second win.

Up next for the Lady Blue Devils is the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) on Aug. 27. This will mark the first meeting between the two universities and the season opener for the Cougars. Game time is slated for 4:30 pm.
