SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Sean Fannon of the Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University baseball team earned First Team All-Conference while Matt Blunk and Brian Corbett earned Second Team All-Conference, the WHAC office announced on Wednesday.
Fannon is earning this honor for the second time in his career and it is his third time making an all-conference team. He led the team in batting average (.380), slugging percentage (.581), hits (68), doubles (12), triples (6), runs batted in (52), at-bats (179), runs (41), and homeruns (4). In the WHAC, he ranked first in runs batted in per game (1.08), total runs batted in, at-bats (179), and triples. He was third in slugging percentage, third in total bases (104), fifth in batting average, fifth in runs scored, fifth in hits per game (1.42), and 17th in on-base percentage (.438).
Blunk earned his second team honor following his most productive season of his collegiate career. He won a career high six games over 10 starts with a 3.15 ERA. He struck out a career high 58 batters and limited his opponents to a .216 batting average. Blunk led the team in innings pitched, wins, and complete games (2). He had the lowest batting average against for a starter on the Blue Devils this season. Blunk also earned WHAC All-Academic honors.
Corbett finds himself on the all-conference second team after a stellar junior campaign, hitting .363 from the plate, going 49-for-135 with 33 runs batted in and 25 runs scored. He ranked second on the team in hits, RBI, and was third in total bases at 53. He started a career high 40 games this season and broke a number of individual career highs including runs, hits, doubles (4), RBI, walks (23), and stolen bases (2). Corbett ranked eighth in the WHAC in on-base percentage (.467). Corbett also earned Champions of Player for a spot on the WHAC Champions of Character Team and earned WHAC All-Academic honors.
The Blue Devils earned 11 WHAC All-Academic honors this season, joining Blunk and Corbett are Matt Baker, Tyler Childs, Tyler Cleasby, Logan Grizzell, David Klug, Luke Lambert, Simon Lidwell, and Mackenzie McGough.
