WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The No. 8-ranked team Lawrence Technological University men's lacrosse team fell 25-3 to the No. 3-ranked Reinhardt University (Ga.) down in Kentucky on March 3. The Blue Devils only found the back of the net in the first half of the game, scoring twice in the first period and once in the third.
Offensively, both teams put up a fight in shots, yet Lawrence Tech's (2-2) shots fired wide, while the Eagles repeatedly were on target. Reinhardt (3-1) went 25 for 44 while LTU went 3 for 25 in goals to shot ratio. Lawrence Tech also suffered in turnovers, with 20 to the Eagles 13. RU also beat them in ground balls, grabbing 32 to LTU's 22. The offense went silent in the third and fourth period, not scoring a single goal and only putting three on target.
Defensively, Nik Kubik (SO/Chicago, Ill.) led the team with seven ground balls while Alex Schlueter (SR/Oxford, Mich.) was right on his tail with five. Joel Trent (SO/South Lyon, Mich.) played all 60 minutes and had eight saves at the end of the match. Yet the Blue Devil defense was not strong enough going into the second half of the game, letting the Eagles score 13 times.
Dylan Couture (SO/Hartland, Mich.) opened the half for the Blue Devils with a goal following back to back goals from the Eagles. After another Reinhardt goal, Justin Light(SO/Hartland, Mich.) added to the mix, putting the Blue Devils down 5-2 at the end of the first 15 minutes. The next period saw Reinhardt score six unanswered goals before LTU found the back of the net via Aiden Nolan with an assist from Maveric Muscat(FR/Hartland, Mich.).
Going into the second half, the Blue Devils were down 12-3 and remained scoreless for the remainder of the game. Eventually, the final whistle rung with the Blue Devils going home with a 3-25 loss.
