FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - For the second time this season, Nik Kubik was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week of April 22. The first time was for the week of March 18th. He is only one of two Blue Devils to be awarded a Player of the Week nod this year. for men's lacrosse The other Blue Devil, Brendan Oles, won Offensive Player of the Week for March 18th. He was also later announced as the National Player of the Week in the NAIA. This is his first NAIA Player of the Week Honor this year
Kubik performed well in the last two games of the Blue Devil's regular season, carrying the team to two wins against ranked opponents.
On Wednesday, to close out their regular season home stand, the Blue Devils upset the NO. 9 team in the country, Siena Heights University 13-8. In this match up, Kubik won 87.5% of the face offs he took, winning 21. He also grabbed 15 ground balls in the win.
Against the NO. 2 team Madonna University, Kubik won 50% of the face offs, winning 12, collected one goal and grabbed seven ground balls. The Blue Devils ended up with another upset, winning 14-11 facing the Crusaders.
The Blue Devils now continue their WHAC Conference Tournament journey following their 13-9 win against Lourdes with a semifinal match against Aquinas on Thursday, April 25th.
