ROCHESTER, Mich—The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's soccer team fell on the road to Rochester (Mich.) University on Wednesday, October 16 by a score of 3-1. The Blue Devils went into half time down one, but were able to respond quickly to even the game at one. The Warriors were then able to strike two more times with less than ten minutes to play to put the Blue Devils away.
The first half saw the Warriors get on the board first in the 25th minute when Donnell Grierson of Rochester scored his third goal of the season. This was all the scoring for the first half, and the Warriors entered halftime with a 1-0 lead. Shots were near even in the first half, with the Blue Devils having a slight advantage of 5-4.
It did not take long for the Blue Devils to tie the game at one. Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Juan Jaramillo capitalized on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. This was Jaramillo's second goal of the season. The score remained 1-1 until the 83rd minute when Alex Ofeimu scored to give the Warriors the goal advantage with less than 10 minutes to play. The Warriors added another goal in the 90th minute to seal the victory, and finished off the Blue Devils with a score of 3-1.
Lawrence Tech. was able to generate many opportunities, but more often than not could not find a way to finish. They outshot the Warriors 14-8 in the match, including a 10-3 differential in the second half. Nico Rodriguez led the Blue Devils in shots with two, and both of these shots were on goal. Max Jewett finished the match with one save, and the Rochester keeper finished with five.
The Blue Devils will be back in action on Saturday, October 19th. It will be Lawrence Technological University's homecoming and you can expect to have a great crowd at Blue Devil Stadium. Coming to town will be the Warriors of Indiana Tech.
