SOUTHFIELD, Mich.—The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) men's soccer team (5-9, 4-4) will be traveling to Sylvania, Ohio for a WHAC matchup vs. the Gray Wolves of Lourdes (Ohio) University (5-10, 3-5). With only three WHAC matches left, every match is critical to where the Blue Devils end up come conference tournament time. The match is set to being at 7:00pm on Saturday, October 26th.
The Blue Devils are coming off an key home win vs. the Saints of Siena Heights (Mich.) University. This win moved the Blue Devils up to 5th place in the standings and kept them in the hunt to host a home playoff match. It was a 4-1 win by the Blue Devils, due in large part to a fast start that put them up two goals going into halftime. Adrian Miling, Kevin Wright, and Nico Rodriguez all found the back of the net in the first half before the 26th minute. This fast start allowed the Blue Devils to get comfortable, gain confidence, and play the soccer they wanted to play. Cesar Nunez scored late in the second half; this goal proved to be the dagger and put the Saints away for good.
Kevin Wright is leading the Blue Devils in goals on the season with six, followed by Nico Rodriguez, who has three goals as well as four assists. The two seniors have been the driving force behind the LTU offense this season.
Lourdes is heading back home to host the Blue Devils after dropping a road match to No. 24 Madonna (Mich.) University by a score of 2-0. Leading the Gray Wolves' offense is redshirt junior Farouk Amoo. Amoo has collected four goals on the season and has taken 46 shots, with 16 being on goal. Ali Chokr will most likely be in the net for the Gray Wolves. Chokr has shutout his opponents four different times this season and has posted a save percentage of .797.
When the two teams met in 2018, it was match that was only separated by one goal. Lourdes took a one goal lead into halftime, but were held scoreless in the second half which allowed the Blue Devils to get the win. The Blue Devils scored two unanswered second half goals to defeat the Gray Wolves 2-1.
