SOUTFIELD, Mich.-Junior midfielder Juan Jaramillo, earned himself his first WHAC Offensive Player of the Week honors of the 2019 season this past week. Jaramillo and the Blue Devils were a part of an emotional and dramatic quarterfinal matchup vs. the Saints of Aquinas (Mich.) College in the WHAC Tournament Saturday, November 9th. The Blue Devils would defeat the Saints by a score of 2-1 to move on to the semifinals.
Jaramillo played a total of 48 minutes, but none more important than the 89th minute of the match. The Blue Devils and Saints were all tied up at one for most of the second half, but Jaramillo broke that tie on a perfect crosser from Alvaro Merino. Jaramillo received the pass, made a nice move and snuck the ball past the goalkeeper of the Saints to give the Blue Devils a one goal lead with less than two minutes remaining. The Saints were unable to respond, and the Blue Devils earned themselves a match in the semifinals vs. the top seeded Warriors from Indiana Tech.
The semifinal match is scheduled to be played at Indiana Tech. at 1:00pm EST.
