FORT WAYNE, Ind. -The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) men's tennis team (2-1) picked up their second victory of the season on the road vs. St. Francis University (Ind.) (0-7). The Blue Devils picked up a convincing win on the road as they won by a score of 7-0.
The Blue Devils got on the board first by taking the doubles point to begin the match. The duo of Lukas Obel and Nicolas DaMotta won their #3 doubles match by a score of 6-1. This give the Blue Devils the early edge for the doubles point. After dropping the #2 doubles match, the team of Alex Tammarro and Alex Rajal captured the doubles point for the Blue Devils by winning the #1 doubles match by a score of 6-4. The Blue Devils entered singles play with a 1-0 and that was as close as the match would get.
The 1-0 lead for the Blue Devils was increased to 2-0 after Tammarro continued his dominance; he won in straight sets in the #1 singles match 6-2,6-0. Scoring the third team point of the match for the Blue Devils was Pedo Orellana. He won the #3 singles match by scores of 6-0, 6-1. With the lead now at 3-0, Will Burgess kept the scoring going by winning the #4 singles match by scores of 6-1, 6-1. Finishing next was Rajal in the #2 singles match. He won by scores of 6-1, 6-3. Obel was next to get in on the scoring for the Blue Devils after he won the #5 singles match by scores of 6-2, 6-0. Damotta was the last player on the court for the Blue Devils, and he finished what his teammates had started. In the #6 singles match, Damotta won in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 to give the Blue Devils the 7-0 victory.
The LTU men's tennis team has rebounded nicely, winning their last two after dropping the season opener on the road. They will look to continue this level of play on Wednesday, September 18th, as they will be traveling to Marion, Ind. for the ITA Regional Tournament.
