SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University men's cross country team traveled to Louisville, Ky. to run in the 17th annual Louisville Classic hosted by the University of Louisville (Ky.) performing well as a team.
The meet brought schools from all divisions of college athletics, but the Blue Devils competed in the silver race, which included many NAIA and NCAA D3 teams. Overall, the guys took 14th out of 34. Out of 275 runners, Malik Jordan (SR/Wayne, Mich.) came in 28th at a time 26:56. Closely following him was Alexander Towianski (SO/Sterling Heights, Mich.) with a time of 27:57 coming in 78th. Next came the pair of Brody Sodon (FR/Firecrest, Wash.), coming in 112th with a time of 28:42 and John Bowen II (JR/Williamston, Mich.) who followed at 113th only a second later at 28:43. Brendan Koch (JR/Macomb, Mich.) finished at 125th with a time of 28:55. Coming in at 151st was Jimmy Hoefler (JR/Macomb, Mich.) with a time of 28:28 and rounding up the group was Ian Lamphear (FR/Utica, Mich.) who came in 172nd with a time of 29:59.
Coach Eric Green enjoying the work put in by the guys, especially during the best weather of the year so far this season, ""It was great for us to have perfect running conditions in this race after having not so good condition the previous two races. The guys all had season best's performances and beat some pretty good teams." Looking ahead, this means the guys are ready for the rest of the season, "This type of performance should help motivate the training for the rest of the season. The workouts we will be doing will be very tough till we taper off for our conference meet in about 4 weeks."
Their next meet will be on October 5 where they will be running in Lansing, Mich. at the Lansing Community College Cross Country invite in Grand Woods Park.
