SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University men's cross country team finished their 2018 season by placing 7th in the WHAC Championship meet on November 4.
The Blue Devils were led by Malik Jordan (SR/Wayne, Mich.) in his last race as an LTU athlete. He placed 53rd with a time of 28:03 for the 8k race. Right on his tail was John Bowen II(JR/Williamston, Mich.) who finished a spot later at 54th with a time of 28:05. Alexander Towianski (SO/Sterling Heights, Mich.) was next with a time of 63rd with a time of 28:28. Crossing the finish line in 66th was Jimmy Hoefler (JR/Macomb, Mich.) with a time of 28:51. Brody Sodon (FR/Firecrest, Wash.) finished next with a time of 29:04 in 73rd. Shane Mudd (SR/Midland, Mich.), the other senior on the team, finished next with a time of 29:07 in 75th. After him was Ian Lamphear (FR/Utica, Mich.) finishing in 77th place with a time of 29:09.
The team definitely worked hard this year in many types of weather, and after losing five seniors from the 2017 team, there were many positives even though they placed in the same spot last year. Coach Eric Green stated, "Even though this was Malik's last race in college, he helped push the rest of the team. Lamphear and Sodon got valuable experience that will help the future of the team while running in this meet." This was also a good year to build, as Green says "We will have nine guys coming back next year and our pack running will be much stronger with the addition of a few new freshmen. Next year could be our year."
