SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The (RV) Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team received five votes in the latest NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Tuesday, April 9.
The Blue Devils dropped out of the top 25 after being ranked for the first time in program's history on Tuesday, March 26 in the 25th spot.
Last week, LTU took two doubleheaders against Rochester (Mich.) College and the University of Northwestern Ohio. The Blue Devils swept the Warriors 6-5 and 11-1 on Wednesday, April 3, and defeated the Racers 5-4 and 2-0 on Saturday, April 6. On Thursday, April 4, Lawrence Tech fell 7-6 to the University of Michigan-Dearborn in game one of the doubleheader and tied 1-1 in the second. The Blue Devils split their doubleheader against Concordia (Mich.) University-Ann Arbor on Sunday, April 7. LTU dropped a 1-0 decision in game one and won 5-2 in the second outing.
University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma sits on top of the poll for the second time in a row with 529 points and 19 first-place votes. The top five is rounded out by Oklahoma City University with 505 points, Marian (Ind.) University with 492, Southern Oregon University with 483, and Georgia Gwinnett College with 458.
Another Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference team receiving votes is Siena Heights (Mich.) University with 65 points.
The Blue Devils will be back in action on Wednesday, April 10 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face off with Aquinas (Mich.) College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at the Gainey Complex.
