SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- This week, the (RV) Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team will face off with three Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foes to close the conference regular season: (RV) Siena Heights (Mich.) University, Lourdes (Ohio) University, and Cornerstone (Mich.) University.
Lawrence Tech (28-7-1, 10-5-1) will host Siena Heights (28-10, 13-3) on Wednesday, April 17 at the Farmington Hills Harrison High School. On Thursday, April 18 LTU will hold its annual Knock Cancer Out of the Park event and Senior Day against Lourdes (6-20, 2-12) at UD-Mercy. First pitch for the doubleheaders against the Saints and the Gray Wolves is set at 3:30 p.m. The Blue Devils will then hit the road to visit Cornerstone (8-28, 2-16) on Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Through 36 games, Lawrence Tech has a 0.313 batting average and a 0.350 on-base percentage. The Blue Devils have scored 182 runs and allowed 91. Sarah Hige paces the squad with a 0.443 batting average and 35 hits, while Meredith Adams has driven in the most runners with 24 RBIs and Cherilyn Banas has stolen eight bases. Brittney Bult leads the Blue Devil pitchers with 17 earned runs, 1.54 per game, while Faith Barden paces them with 8.54 strikeouts per game.
Siena Heights will face off with Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) University before taking on the Blue Devils. So far, the Saints have 304 scored-runs and 162 allowed. SHU has a 0.368 batting average and 0.423 on-base percentage. The squad is led by Ashley Helmink with a 0.484 batting average and 51 RBIs and Kayla Boland with 14 stolen bases. Racquel Ward paces the Saint pitchers with an earned run average of 2.80 and 4.50 strikeouts per outing.
Lourdes will arrive to the matchup against LTU with a 0.253 batting average and 0.312 on-base percentage. The Gray Wolves have scored 85 runs and surrendered 164. Marissa Kostik leads the squad with a 0.416 batting average, 22 RBIs, and an earned run average of 3.87. Allie Teeple paces the Gray Wolves with seven stolen bases, while Ashley Riley leads the pitchers with 4.40 strikeouts per effort.
Cornerstone will take on Madonna (Mich.) University before hosting LTU. Thus far this season, the Golden Eagles have scored 149 runs and given up 257. CU has a 0.281 batting average and a 0.333 on-base percentage. McKena Razenberg paces the squad with a 0.365 batting average, while Lexi Lieske leads with nine stolen bases. Ashley Loera has a 3.24 earned run average and Kaitlin Johnson a 5.16 strikeout average per contest.
