Blue Devils Shutout Siena Heights in WHAC Game to Extend Winning Streak to Nine Games

DETROIT, Mich.-  The (RV) Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team defeated Siena Heights (Mich.) University, 1-0, on Tuesday, April 23 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action. With this outcome, Lawrence Tech tied its program record streak of nine wins.

Lawrence Tech (34-7-1, 16-7-1) were in a pitchers' duel as both teams combined for 12 runners left on base and nine hits. Alexa Cherney threw a gem allowing no runs and five hits with 11 strikeouts, setting her season record to 11-3. Cherney faced 25 batters and walked two.

Sarah Hige scored the lone run of the game in the first inning off a wild pitch.

SHU outhit LTU, 5-4. Meredith Adams, Brittany Wieland, Katie Cyster and Hige were the players that recorded hits for the Blue Devils. 

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Saturday, April 27 against Cleary (Mich.) University in Howell, Mich. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. at the Lake Trust Stadium.
