SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- Sarah Hige and Meredith Adams of the Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Teams, the executive office announced on Friday, May 31. Hige, First-Team honoree, and Adams, Second-Team honoree, joined 192 players from 71 schools chosen for the six 2019 NAIA All-Region softball teams.
Last season, Hige led the squad with a 0.444 batting average, 60 hits, and 12 stolen bases. The Northville, Mich. native started in 38 games and contributed with 31 runs and 11 RBIs. Hige finished the season with a 0.503 at-bat percentage and a 0.944 fielding percentage.
Adams scored 25 runs and drove in 25 runners in the 2019 campaign. The Portage, Mich. native had a 0.375 hitting average, 0.419 on-base percentage, and a 0.978 fielding percentage.
All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member head coaches in each of the six NAIA regions. The All-America team will be announced June 5 online at NFCA.org.
