Women's Basketball Falls 52-42 to (15) Taylor Trojans; Face Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday, November 9th

MARION, Ind. - The Lawrence Technological University women's basketball played in their first game of the Leah Whittaker Memorial Tournament hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. Facing the (15) Taylor University, the Blue Devils fell 52-42 against the Trojans. The next and final game down in Indiana is a match against the host Indiana Wesleyan where tip off is set for 5:00 p.m..

The Trojans (4-0) made this their 21st regular season win. In the first quarter, Lawrence Tech (3-2) made a 8-1 lead, yet, Taylor found their footing and ran past them, taking the lead back in the last 10 minutes of the quarter.

In the second, the Trojans dominated possession. While LTU got their chance, the ball just wasn't falling their way on the offensive end. The first half of the game ended with LTU down 31-19.

In the third, a fresh set of ladies off the bench made an impact. Hope Dollarhide scored back to back field goals, which then Kylee Batey added to with one of her own, narrowing the deficit to 35-27. For the last five minutes, it was a quiet quarter, with stints of misses from either team. With a little less than two minutes remaining, Dollarhide made another field goal, followed by a three point shot from Rachel Price to close the quarter 38-33.

In the final period, the Blue Devils streaked back, getting the score within six and a few key plays. Taylor once again hit a few several key blocks and rebounds that led them to a  9 -5 rally which sealed the fate of the Lawrence Tech squad, falling 52-42.

What hurt the Blue Devils the most was their low live shooting percentage. However, on the line, they went 75% in free throws. Leading LTU was Kendall Fisher, who grabbed 13 points on the night. Their highlight of the night was 10 steals and six blocks defensivley, who held the 15th team in the nation to a low fifties score. The Blue Devils also had 39 rebounds, 31 of which were on the defensive end. Leading the team in rebounds was Danielle Hanson with eight pull downs from the rim.
