INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The (RV) Lawrence Technological University women's bowling team competed this past weekend in the Columbia 300 Western Shootout. This two day event ran from Oct. 19-Oct. 20. At the end of the tournament, the Blue Devils earned a top five finish and a member of the team earned All-Tournament Team honors.
Day one of the competition saw each member of the Blue Devils' team bowl six individual games. Leading the Blue Devils was Victoria Giardina. Giardina ranked fourth overall out of 210 varsity and junior varsity bowlers, and earned the honor of being named to the All-Tournament Team. Her six game total was 1,193, giving her an average of 198.83. Posting the next best score for the Blue Devils was Treasa Rost. She put up a 176.83 average for her six games; this earned her 26th place. After day one of competition the Blue Devils were in 5th place overall out of 24 teams.
On day two, all teams bowled 16 Baker games to determine the Columbia Western Shootout Champion. The Blue Devils' total for the Baker games was 8,261. Once all teams completed their Baker games and the totals were added up, the Blue Devils had secured a 5th place finish. Head Coach Kevin Wemyss was very pleased with how his team competed, "The Ladies did awesome all weekend. The teams who finished above us are some of the best in the country." Finishing in front of the Blue Devils were the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 8 teams in the latest coaches' poll.
Up next for the Blue Devils will be the WHAC Jamboree #2 Tournament on Saturday, November 9th.
