SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - With winter weather clearing, the Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team plays in their first game outdoors of 2019 on the LTU Athletic Field this Friday, March 1st at 5 p.m. against Georgetown College (Ky.). After the release of the Top 10 Coaches' poll, LTU sits at the 6th spot in the NAIA and the Tigers hold the 8th, setting up a top ten match-up for this game.
Georgetown (1-1) comes up to Michigan with two matches under their belt, including a 21-3 win against Berry College and a 11-16 loss to Lincoln Memorial University. The Tigers are led by Avery Blackman who handles most of the possessions for Georgetown and has 12 goals, 11 assists, 21 draw controls, six ground balls, and six caused turnovers in two games, leading in every stat for her team.
The Blue Devils (0-2) go into this game following two narrow losses to Calvin College (Mich.) and the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). Anna Gagnon (JR/Grand Haven, Mich.) leads the team with eight goals this season and three assists while Gabi Larkin (JR/South Lyon, Mich.) leads the team in draw controls at seven. Goalie Dorie Coggin has 18 saves in the two games Lawrence Tech has played. A more balanced defensive unit and attack looks to take the win over the Tigers.
Following this home game, the Blue Devils will play #3 Benedictine College (Kan.) on March 9th at home before heading on the road for two games in Florida against ranked opponents.
