SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological Univesity women's lacrosse team heads back to Detroit Country Day on Saturday to face Calvin College (Mich.) following a hard fought 13-11 loss against the #3 team in the NAIA the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) last Friday.
Despite losing in their home opener, the Blue Devils battled with the Patriots throughout the game, coming back from being down by three and tying the game going into the second half. They were led by the stonewall keeper Dorie Coggin (SO/Hamilton, Ohio) who made a few point blank saves, keeping the team in the game. Anna Gagnon (JR/Grand Haven, Mich.) led the team with four goals and one assist, while Ashley Sherry (SO/Savage, Minn.) had three goals and one assist. Leading the team in assists was newcomer Kady Waits (FR/Milford, Mich.) with two. Waits also led the team with ground balls, collecting seven and caused turnovers with three. Gabi Larkin (JR/South Lyon, Mich.) controlled the draw, grabbing seven, with teammate Abby Barnewold(SO/Lake Orion, Mich.) grabbing three.
This will be Lawrence Tech's last game in February. Come March, they prepare to face four teams in the top of the NAIA, including home games against Georgetown College (6), Benedictine College (8) and face Keiser University (5) and Ave Marie University (RV) in Florida for their spring break trip.
