WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Lawrence Technological University women's team traveled down to Florida this week in anticipation to play two games within the state. The first game starts on March 12th against Keiser University at 1 p.m.. The other match concludes their Florida trip on Saturday, March 16th against Ave Maria University at 1 p.m.
The No. 6 Blue Devils (0-4) play at the No. 5 Seahawks (5-1) as LTU looks for their first win of the season following tough losses to ranked opponents early in the season. This includes a 16-11 loss to the #3 team in the nation, Benedictine College (Kan.) this past Saturday.
Leading Lawrence Tech offensively is Kady Waits (FR/Milford, Mich.) with four assists, three goals, six caused turnovers and 15 shots on goal. Anna Gagnon (JR/Grand Haven, Mich.) leads the team with nine goals, while Ashley Sherry (SO/Savage, Minn.) and Kaylee Patterson (SO/Grand Blanc, Mich.) each have four. Gabi Larkin (JR/South Lyon, Mich.) and Ashley Sherry each have 15 ground balls, leading the team, while Larkin leads the team in draw controls at nine.
The Blue Devils have played a lot of defense this season, forcing many shot clock violations on their opponents and repeatedly shutting down threats in front of goal. In net, Dorie Coggin(SO/Hamilton, Ohio) has 42 saves, while those in front of her, including Axey Vang and Abby Barnewold (SO/Lake Orion, Mich.) each have four caused turnovers.
