Blue Devils Fall at NO. 6 Keiser Seahawks 18-6

West Palm Beach, FLA. -The women's lacrosse team of Lawrence Technological (Mich.) Universtiy women's lacrosse team fell to Keiser (Fla.) University Seahawks 18-6 on Tuesday afternoon. Now they look onward to Ave Maria University (Fla.) on Saturday, March 16th.

Leading the Blue Devils (0-5) was Gabi Larkin (JR/South Lyon, Mich.), Teagan Laier(SO/Howell, Mich.) and Anna Gagnon (JR/Grand Haven, Mich.) who each had three points.  Larkin had a goal and two assists, Laier had three assists and Gagnon had three goals. Jordan Messing (SR/Bruce Twp., Mich.) led the team with four ground balls while Maddie Barnewold (SR/Oxford, Mich.) had three. Kady Waits (FR/Milford, Mich.) led the team in caused turnovers with three. Abby Barnewold (SO/Lake Orion, Mich.) led the team with four draw controls out of the five the team won. Dorie Coggin (SO/Hamilton, Ohio) finished the game with five saves and taking the loss on the night.

After scoring two straight goals to open the game within the two minutes of the game starting. This first was scored by Anna Gagnon from Teagan Laier. Moments after, Kaylee Patterson (SO/Grand Blanc, Mich.) found the back of the net. Keiser responded right back, until Gagnon found the back of the net again from Laier for a second time. Then the Seahawks scored ten in a row before Gagnon from Larkin found the back of the net with 35 seconds left.

The second period opened with the Seahawks scoring four in a row before Larkin broke their streak. To close the game, Abby Barnewold, fed from Larkin, scored with less than two minutes to go in the game.

Lawrence Tech suffered 23 turnovers to Keiser's 19.  The Seahawks also took more shots, taking 29 to LTU's 14. Keiser also took advantage of the free position shots, scoring on five of their six opportunities from the 8 meter. The Blue Devils also suffered in clearing, only being successful seven out of their 15 attempts.
