Lawrence Tech Falls 15-12 in Battle Against Walsh University

North Canton, OHIO. - Despite a back and forth game, the Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team fell 15-12 on the road against Walsh University. The Blue Devils now focus on the rest of their season with all WHAC opponents ahead, the first of which occurs this Saturday against Siena Heights University (Mich.) at home at 1 p.m. The game will be held at Farmington Hills Harrison High School.

Offensively, the Blue Devils (1-6) were led by Ashley Sherry (SO/Savage, Minn.)'s four goals and one assist. Right along side of her was Kady Waits (FR/Milford, Mich.) with three points from a goal and two assists and Teagan Laier (SO/Howell, Mich.) with three goals. Waits also led the team in ground balls at five.Gabi Larkin (JR/South Lyon, Mich.) had a good day in the draw circle, grabbing seven draw controls and three ground balls, which contributed to the teams 17 draw controls over the Cavaliers (6-1) 12.

Walsh started off back to back goals in the first three minutes however Teagan Laier was the first Blue Devil to respond, and then scored again with an assist from Kady Waits. After a quick goal from the Cavs, it was Laier once again finding the back of the net to tie up the game 3-3. Ashley Sherry then did the same with two back to back goals to put the team up 5-3. Then Walsh responded again, but Lawrence Tech continued to find an answer, ending the first half in a tie at 8-8.

The Blue Devils remained quiet after the half, letting the Cavs go on a six goal streak. However, several quick caused turnovers and a goal from Kady Waits saw Lawrence Tech go on to score four goals in a row. Despite this last moment rush, 24 turnovers and only scooping up 19 ground balls to the Cavaliers 29 was the quick end to the game for the Blue Devils.

Going into the next game on Saturday could be the turning point for the Blue Devils with all WHAC opponents left on the schedule for the 2019 season. Siena Heights is 1-5 this season, their lone win against Ave Maria University (Fla.)
