SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – With a busy week ahead of them, the (10) Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team prepares for three games this week. The first game is a trip to (9) Concordia University – Ann Arbor on Wednesday, April 3rd where the game is set to start at 5 p.m. Their second game of the week is on Friday, April 5th at home against Cleary University (Mich.) at 5 p.m.. Their last game of the week also will be the team's senior day, honoring their two seniors during their game against Madonna University (Mich.) at 1 p.m.
Lawrence Tech is led by the 33 points of Anna Gagnon from 25 goals and eight assists. Right on her tail is Kady Waits with 16 goals and nine assists equaling 25 points and the 25 points of Ashley Sherry from 19 goals and six assists. Sherry leads the team with 30 ground balls while Waits leads the team with 18 caused turnovers. From the draw, Gabi Larkin has been on a roll with 40 draw controls. She also has the second most ground balls on the team with 29. On the circle with Larkin has been defensive middie Abby Barnewold, grabbing 32 draw controls, 22 ground balls and has 12 caused turnovers. The lone goalie, Dorie Coggin, ranks fourth in the nation in total saves with 81 and averages 8.1 saves a game, holding the 13 spot in the nation.
Concordia is 6-2 this season and 2-1 in the WHAC. They are coming off a recent loss from the hands of Siena Heights, where they fell 17-11 to the Saints. They are led by Cassandra Allard with 38 points from seven assists and 31 goals.
Cleary University (Mich.) is 5-4 this season and 3-1 in the WHAC with a recent 17-16 win against Ohio Northern. They are led by the 39 goals of Jordan Bloch. Cleary plays the Notre Dame Falcons on Wednesday, April 6th before heading to Farmington Hills to play Lawrence Tech.
Madonna University is 2-6 this season and 0-3 in the WHAC, with a narrow 12-11 loss to Lourdes University (Ohio) on Saturday, Mach 30th. They have one more game before heading over to face the Blue Devils with a game on Wednesday against Siena Heights. During this game against Madonna, the Blue Devils will be honoring the two seniors of the team, Jordan Messing and Maddie Barnewold, for all their work on and off the field at LTU.
After these three games, the team only have three games left of the season before heading into the WHAC post-season and striving for a qualification to the NAIA nationals.
