WEEKLY PREVIEW: Women's Lacrosse Hosts Bethel on Wednesday; Play NO. 4 Indiana Tech on the Road Saturday

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Striving to post season, the Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team plays in two games this week of their final three before WHAC championship play. The first is a home game against new to the WHAC Bethel (Ind.) on Wednesday at Total Soccer Arenas in Wixom, Mich. where the draw is set to go up at 2:45 p.m. Then, on the road, the Blue Devils play NO. 4 Indiana Tech on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.

Lawrence Tech (7-6, 6-0) is fresh off a six game streak with being undefeated in WHAC play. Several Blue Devils have been performing in the last few matches, with Ashley Sherry being the first women's lacrosse player to win offensive player of the week in the WHAC for the 2019 season. She had a 24 point week last week, highlighted by 15 goals in three games. Anna Gagnon and Gabi Larkin are lighting up the assist category, each with 16 goals, tying for the 15th spot in the nation. Gagnon is 16th in the NAIA in goals with 36, while Sherry is right behind her in the 20th spot with 34 goals.

Defensively, Dorie Coggin is 3rd in the NAIA in total saves with 103 and 14th in saves per game with an average of 7.9. Abby Barnewold is 8th in the NAIA for caused turnovers with 24 while teammate Kady Waits is only one spot behind, grabbing 21 caused turnovers so far this season.

Bethel (1-9, 1-4) is coming into this game with a 20-3 loss to Siena Heights University (Mich.) on Saturday. They are led by the stick of Allison Coffeen who has 12 goals this season. In net, Brianna Barnett has 97 saves this season, holding the 6th spot in the nation for saves.

Indiana Tech (8-2, 6-0) is the only other undefeated team in the conference. Up next for the Warriors is a game against Marion (Ind.) on Wednesday. The Indiana Tech team has a diverse scoring squad, led by Jennifer Banks with 27 goals this season, averaging three goals a game while teammate Bailey Childs is right behind her, leading the team in assists with 13. Their goalie, Sydney Davis has 80 saves this year, saving almost nine shots a game.

Next week, the Blue Devils have their last game of the regular season at Aquinas (Mich.) on April 17th before heading into conference play Tuesday, April 23rd.
