SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – After suffering their only loss in the WHAC against NO. 4 Indiana Tech 14-13 on Saturday, April 14th, the NO. 8 Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team enters their last game of the regular season with a match at Aquinas College on Wednesday, April 17th at 5:30 p.m.
The Blue Devils (8-7, 7-1) look to conclude their conference play with their last game of the season at the Aquinas Saints (3-10, 2-5) home field. Following this game, the WHAC will announce the standings for the WHAC tournament, where the higher seed will host, starting on April 23rd and concluding with the championship game on the 27th. Six teams will make it in to the WHAC while the top two seeds get a bye.
Going into their final game, the Blue Devils are led by several strong players all over the field. Anna Gagnon leads the team in goals with 43 this season, ranking 15th in the nation, and assists with 23, ranking 15th in the nation for assists per game with an average of little under two. Gabi Larkin is right behind her in the assist category with 17. Ashley Sherry is also on their tail with 40 goals and 15 assists this season. Overall, the team ranks 6th in the nation in assists, assists per game and total points. Dorie Coggin, the lone goalie, has 113 saves this season, ranking fourth in the nation for saves.
Aquinas comes into this game with only a handful of wins under their belt, including two against WHAC opponents Rochester College and Bethel College. They are led by the stick of Lauren Sanford, who has 60 goals this season. In net, McKenna Maltby is sixth in the nation for saves with 109 saves.
