SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Anna Gagnon and Abby Barnewold were named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year following an 8-1 campaign in conference play, the conference office announced on Saturday. Gagnon becomes the third straight Blue Devil to take home Offensive Player of the Year honors, joining Kadijah Kalo and Isabelle Vickers.
Gagnon earned the honor after leading the team in goals (47), assists (31), points (78), and ranked third in shots with 78. Defensively, Gagnon recorded 25 groundballs, eight draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers. A. Barnewold earned the honors with 59 draw controls, 30 groundballs, and 26 caused turnovers. Offensively, A. Barnewold scored seven goals and finished with 10 assists.
The Blue Devils had five players earn First Team All-Conference honors with Gagnon and Maddie Barnewold earning the honor for the second straight season. They were joined by Kady Waits, Ashley Sherry, and A. Barnewold. Three student-athletes earned WHAC All-Academic honors – Gagnon, Katja Nuler, and Patterson.
Gabi Larkin, Teagan Laier, and Dorrie Coggin were named Second Team All-Conference with Mary Ann Meltzer named Champions of Character Coach. Brooke Hepditch was named the team's Champions of Character Player.
