Shannon, a Michigan native, spent her past four years in cage down in Tennessee at Lincoln Memorial University, a NCAA DII program in the south atlantic conference.

At LMU, she was the four year captain of the team and a part of the inaugural class in 2014 for lacrosse. Novak is an 2x IWLCA Academic Honor Roll member and SAC honor roll member for every semester enrolled at LMU. As a Railsplitter, she holds the record for saves in a game with 22 and was the ground ball statical champion for ground balls in 2015-16 and 2016-17. She was also named Hero of the Week for Divison II during her senior year and was the first ever player of the week from her school for women's lacrosse.

As a coach, she has worked across Michigan and Tennessee is growing the game, specifically within the goalie position. Novak is also a sports information graduate assistant at Lawrence Tech.
