Women's Soccer Signs Six Student-Athletes to Join 2019 Blue Devils Program

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University coaching staff welcomes five freshmen, and one transfer for the 2019 fall season. These student-athletes will bring talent, commitment and depth to the Blue Devil program.

The six newcomers are:

DiONNA HILL (Ann Arbor, Michigan)

High School: Skyline High School

Club Team: Michigan Jaguars

Position: Forward

Intended Major at LTU: General Studies or Psychology

Achievements:

  • Varsity soccer at Skyline HS
  • Played club soccer with MPSA Crush, Michigan Hawks and Michigan Jaguars

Coaching comment: "DiOnna is an extremely athletic forward who possesses electric pace and excellent technical skills. She is expected to compete for a starting spot in the LTU attacking line".

 


REBEKAH HOLBROOK (Highland, Michigan)

High School: Milford High School

Club Team: Michigan Impact 

Previous Institution: Schoolcraft College

Position: Left Back 

Intended Major at LTU: Structural Engineering 

Achievements:

  • Served as classroom support in the Milford High School Teaching Interacting Encouraging Student (TIES) special education classroom (Autistic Program)
  • Senior year GPA: 3.67
  • Varsity girls soccer (four years)  
  • All-KLAA conference Junior and Senior Year 
  • Captain of Michigan Impact club team
  • Schoolcraft College Dean's List – four semesters 
  • Schoolcraft College GPA 3.81
  • Member of Phi Theta Kapa 
  • Two-year starter, and one-year, captain at Schoolcraft College
  • First team MCCAA conference 
  • Fall 2017 Region XII Champions 

Coaching comment: "Rebekah will add both defensive and attacking qualities to our program, in addition to her experience at the collegiate level".

 


DAHLIA JEROVSEK (Grand Haven, Michigan)

High School: Grand Haven High School 

Club team: Midwest United FC – NCL Royal

Position: Attacking Center Midfielder / Outside Midfielder 

Intended Major at LTU:  Biomedical Engineering 

Achievements:

  • Maintained a GPA average of 3.9 or higher for 4 years.
  • Active member of National Honors Society. 
  • A four-year varsity player at GHHS. 
  • Team Captain (two years) for GHHS varsity team.
  • All-District 1st Team.
  • All-Conference Honorable Mention.
  • All-Academic Award.
  • Nine years of club soccer, with Midwest United FC (Premier level and MRL).

 Coaching comment: "Dahlia is a very athletic and dynamic player who is expected to compete for an immediate spot in the LTU midfield".

   


COURTNEY MATHESON (Markham, Ontario)

High School: Bill Crothers Secondary School

Club Team: Masters Futbol Academy

Position: Full back or center back

Intended Major at LTU: Engineering

Achievements:

  • Honor roll - 4 years, with a 90% average
  • Captain of Masters Futbol Academy's Women's team

Coaching comment: "Courtney will add great defensive qualities to our program, in addition to a very competitive nature and upbeat personality".

 


LAUREN MEXICO (Madison Heights, Michigan)

High School: Lampere High School

Club Team: Michigan Jaguars

Position: Attacking Midfield

Intended Major at LTU: Biology

Achievements:

  • GPA: 3.8
  • All-State Third Team
  • All-Regional Team
  • All-District Team

Coaching comment: "Lauren is an extremely talented player who will add a high level of technical skills to our midfield, plus an ability to score great goals. She is a very exciting addition to the roster".

 


CAMRYN SAWICKI (Berkley, Michigan)

High school: Berkley High School 

Club team: Liverpool FC

Position: Defensive/attacking center midfielder 

Intended Major at LTU: Nursing

Achievements:

  • GPA: 3.4 
  • Represented Berkley HS in All-League and All-District
  • Two-year team captain at BHS
  • ODP regional team member (2018) 

Coaching comment: "Cam has excellent technical skills and plays well in tight spaces, and under pressure. She will add depth to the LTU midfield".
