SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's soccer team celebrated five seniors on Senior Day as they fell to No. 3 Northwestern Ohio 3-2 at Blue Devils Stadium. Following the match, Lawrence Tech celebrated the careers of Aiyana Reid, Randi Jannette, Madison Smith, Sydne Everts, and Alayne Nyboer.
Lawrence Tech (10-7, 6-5) gave up the early goal to Jeweleen Reuille as she chipped the ball over Rebecca Almandoz to make it 1-0 in the first minute. The Blue Devils conceded the next two goals to Reuille before Rebekah Holbrook notched a pair of goals for Lawrence Tech. Holbrook cut the Racers lead to 3-1 in the 69th minute on an assist from Katelyn Mather. She notched her second goal of the game six minutes later made it a 3-2 game. Mather had her second assist of the match.
Northwestern Ohio continued to pressure the Blue Devils in the final 20 minutes, but Lawrence Tech's defense held strong to keep the match within grasp. However, the Racers didn't give an inch and held on for the one-goal win.
The Blue Devils finished the game with five shots, four on goal as Nyboer finished with one shot on goal. Holbrook went 3-for-5 on shots on goal. Reuille led the way for UNOH with six shots and three goals.
The Blue Devils have earned the sixth-seed in the WHAC Tournament and will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face third-seed Cornerstone (Mich.) University on Wednesday, November 6. Opening kick is set for 6 p.m.
