UPLAND, Ind.- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's tennis team defeated Indiana University-Southeast, 5-3 on Saturday, April 6.
Lawrence Tech (10-9, 3-1) started the match with a two-point deficit after withdrawing doubles third flight and court-six singles. The Blue Devils tied the match after doubles action as they took first and second flights. The duo of Samantha Weber and Samantha Kohn took court-two, 8-2, against Camille Greenwell and Anne-Marie Mattox. Sabrina Mateos and Maria Vega-Hazas defeated Lauren Winchell and Alexis Applegate, 8-3, at first flight.
IU-Southeast (8-9, 4-0) reclaimed a momentary lead as Maria Nicholls dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision at fifth flight against Hallee Miller. The Blue Devils regained the advantage after Mateos (6-2, 6-1), Weber (6-1, 6-2) and Vega-Hazas (6-1, 6-3) took third, second, and first flights against Jeannie Soto, Applegate, and Winchell, respectively.
The Blue Devils will return to the courts on Saturday, April 13 to close the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season against the University of Northwestern Ohio. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
