KOKOMO, Ind.- The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) women's tennis team (4-0) continued their winning ways vs. the Cougars of Indiana Kokomo (3-2). It was a quick turnaround for the Blue Devils who played the evening before at St. Francis University (Ind.). This did not affect their play, as they won by a team score of 6-1.
The doubles team point was earned by the Blue Devils winning the #1 and #2 matches. Maria Hazas and Sabrina Mateos won their #1 doubles match and Samantha Kohn and Carolin Minners won their match shortly after. This gave the Blue Devils the 1-0 lead heading into the singles matches.
The Cougars struck first in the singles matches by winning the #6 singles match; this evened up the team points at one a piece. The Blue Devils did not surrender another team point for the remainder of the match. Minners, Kohn, Hazas, Weber, and Mateos were all victorious in their singles matches in straight sets.
Head Coach Steve Behmlander had this today about the match, "IU has always been a good opponent. We knew they improved their line up this year, but our girls stepped up their games today. We took a match plan and put it in place and were fortunate to come away with a nice win. We still continue to struggle at the bottom of our line up, but I continue to see improvement with each match."
