SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's volleyball team is receiving votes for the first time in program history, as they earned 46 points to sit three spots out of the top 25.
Lawrence Tech (6-1) earned their spot on the receiving votes section of the poll thanks to their play the last two weekends. The Blue Devils went 3-1 at the Bellevue Tournament and 3-0 at the Gray Wolf Invitational. The lone loss came to No. 14 Central Methodist (Mo.) 3-2 after dropping a 2-0 lead.
The top team this week is Missouri Baptist with 577 total points and 11 first-place votes. Northwestern Iowa received 564 points with nine first-place votes while Park (Mo.) earned 577 points and three first-place votes. Indiana Wesleyan vaulted up the poll to No. 4 with 536 points as they are 12-0 with wins over then-No. 1 Columbia (Mo.) and then-No. 2 Park (Mo.).
Lawrence Tech is the top WHAC team in the NAIA Poll as Aquinas (Mich.) is the only team in conference receiving votes (10).
The Blue Devils return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 11 when they travel to UM-Dearborn to open the WHAC season. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
