The Lawrence Technological University Cross Country Programs, due to a mix up on dates, will be sending two squads to two different meets this weekend on October 5. One group from the men's and women's team will travel with Head Coach Eric Green down to Louisville (Ky.) for a tough competition in the south. The other two groups will be running in the Lansing Community College race on Friday, October 4th with assistant coach Malik Jordan.
At the Louisville Cross Country Classic, give guys and two ladies will travel with Green to make the trek. He will be taking the top runners from each team, Darbey Johnson for the ladies and Nolan McGahan from the men's side to compete in this race. This will expose to some of the top runners in the midwest for their level.
For the Lansing race, seven guys and three ladies will go with Jordan to compete closer to home. Green commented "this will be a first for us running a split squad at two separate meets. Because of a scheduling mistake, we have the opportunity to run two guys teams this weekend. I am very excited to see how well both teams run since we have had some great workouts the past couple of weeks." Also, with some runners coming back from injury, like Kelsey Catania, this will be their first race of the season. Sister, Hailey Catania will be running in Louisville while Kelsey makes her debut in Lansing. Green added "These two meets have traditionally been positive turning points for our season going into the final phase of our training for preparations for the conference meet."
After these two races, the team will be off next weekend and will not race until the Oberlin Invite on October 19.
