Danielle Sirekis was named the first Esports head coach in Lawrence Tech history on Monday, November 30th 2020. She had a voice in bringing Esports into the WHAC, as Lawrence Tech was one of six founding schools for WHAC Esports.
In her first season at the helm, Coach Sirekis led the Blue Devils to a 21-19 overall record in 2021-22, including a 13-10 mark in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Her squad finished in second place in both the WHAC Rocket League and League of Legends tournaments in their first season of competition, while also competing in six other gaming titles, such as Valorant, Rainbow 6 Siege, Overwatch, Madden, Smash Bros, and Call of Duty.
Under her tutelage, she had a student-athlete named first team all-conference in Rocket League with four more earning second team all-conference honors in other games.
In July of 2022, following a year on the Enforcement Eligibility Committee, Sirekis was selected to the Board of Directors for the National Association of Collegiate of Esports (NACE), an organization that comprises of over 210 schools across North America. In August of 2022, Sirekis was named the WHAC Esports Committee Chair for the leagues eight conference members.
Before arriving at Lawrence Tech, Coach Sirekis worked as a swimming coach, coaching and mentoring the Lake Orion Liquid Lightning alongside being the assistant swim coach for the girl's team at Notre Dame Prep (Mich.).
Coach Sirekis first found her passion for gaming, waiting to compete before her swim meets while in high school at Lake Orion High School. There is where she would set up private servers and have LAN parties for fun. Playing for countless hours in multiple first-person shooters, role-playing, strategy, and simulation games, to name a few. Sirekis said this about her approach to video games, "I am always willing to give different games a chance simply because I view them as a piece of art."
