FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Despite five players in double-figures and overcoming a 12-point deficit, the Lawrence Tech women's basketball team drops its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opener, 85-82. Allison Bicknell (JR/Waterford, MI)'s last second attempt to tie falls short, moving the Lady Blue Devils to 1-3 on the season.

A sluggish start by LTU allowed the Warriors to jump out to a 12 point lead, 10 minutes into the contest. Trailing 48-37 with 2:02 remaining in the half, the Blue Devils began to chip away at the deficit as Bicknell drained a three-pointer and Laura Bruton (FR/Farmington Hills, MI) got a tough layup to fall. Allison Kitchen (SO/Clio, MI) split a pair of free throws to cut Indiana Tech's lead to 50-43 at halftime.

Three minutes into the second half, Bruton tied the game on a put back layup. A jumper by Kitchen gave the Blue Devils its first lead of the game 56-54, but it was short lived as the Warriors nailed a triple to tie it up. With only 34 seconds remaining, Maegan Branham (SO/Michigan Center, MI) cut the Indiana Tech lead to one, 82-81. However, the Warriors finished three-of-four from the charity stripe to edge out the win, 85-82.

Lawrence Tech finished the game 26-of-60 for 43 percent, while Indiana Tech shot 27-59 for 45 percent. Kitchen led the Blue Devils with 18 points and eight rebounds, followed by Jazmine Brown (JR/Chesterfield, MI)'s 17 points and seven rebounds. Newcomer Hannah Huff (JR/Waterford, MI) finished the game 4-4 from beyond the arc for 12 points.

Next up for the Blue Devils is a road contest against Concordia University - Ann Arbor (Mich.) on Nov. 19. LTU returns home on Nov. 22 as they host Lourdes University (Ohio) at 1pm.
