ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Behind a career-high 34 points from Allison Kitchen (SO/Clio, MI), the Lawrence Tech women's basketball team earns its first ever victory over Concordia University (Mich.), 110-91 on Nov. 19. The win is also the team's first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) victory of the season, moving to .500 in the conference.
A slow start by the Blue Devils gave Concordia a 25-17 lead just over five minutes into the contest. However, back-to-back triples and a layup by Allison Bicknell (JR/Waterford, MI) quickly tied it back up with 11:44 left in the first half. The teams would tie nine more times, including a 50-50 tie with 43 seconds remaining. LTU took a 54-51 advantage into halftime following a pair of free throws by Jazmine Brown (JR/Chesterfield, MI).
Lawrence Tech committed 16 turnovers in the first half but shot 50 percent from the floor, while Concordia finished the half shooting 32 percent with seven turnovers.
Midway through the second half, Hannah Huff (JR/Waterford, MI) broke the fifteenth tie of the game and spark a 9-1 run for the Blue Devils. With 5:08 left in the game, LTU extended the lead to sixteen, 97-81 following a jumper by Kitchen. The Blue Devils closed the game on a 13-7 run to seal the road win.
Lawrence Tech finished with six players topping double-figures, including 19 points by Bicknell and 13 points from Brown. Maegan Branham (SO/Michigan Center, MI) recorded 11 points and ten rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Bicknell added a game-high nine assists.
The Blue Devils return to play on Nov. 22 for the conference home opener against Lourdes University (Ohio) at 1pm.
