Kitchen's 29 leads LTU to 93-73 win over No. 21 Madonna

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University (LTU) women's basketball team used a 36 points third quarter to spur a 93-73 win at No.21-ranked Madonna University (Mich.) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) season opener on Saturday in Livonia, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (2-0, 1-0 WHAC) was led by Allison Kitchen (JR/Clio, MI) who finished the game with 29 points on 11-for-13 shooting and was 7-for-10 from the line. Hali Butler (SR/Fairport Harbor, OH), Jazmine Brown (SR/Chesterfield, MI), and Maegan Branham (JR/Michigan Center, MI) added 10 points each, while Cherilyn Banas (FR/Oxford, Mich.) notched nine points. Butler notched seven rebounds and six assists Christina Henry (JR/Lansing, Mich.) added nine points, seven assists, and seven rebounds in the 93-73 win.

The Blue Devils trailed 38-31 at halftime, but a 23-7 run to open the third quarter propelled LTU to a 54-45 lead with 3:04 on the clock. Lawrence Tech continued its hot shooting as they took a 67-52 lead into the final quarter.

Lawrence Tech finished the game on a 13-4 run to win its third straight game over Madonna, 93-73.

LTU outshot the Crusaders 61-59 as the Blue Devils went 39-for-61 from the field and shot 59 percent on the day. Madonna finished the game going 25-for-59 (42%) from the field and were 16-for-27 from the line. But the key statistic for today's game was the boards as LTU outrebounded the Madonna 44-22 including 11 offensive rebounds.

Madonna was led by Lindsey Hernden and Devin Talley with 12 points each, while Kacy Robinson led the team with four rebounds.

Lawrence Tech is back on the court Wednesday, November 18 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., to face Aquinas College (Mich.) at 6 p.m.
