SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Christina Henry (JR/Lansing, Mich.) had a career high 21 points to help Lawrence Technological University (LTU) to a 59-57 win over (RV) Siena Heights University (Mich.). It was the program's first win over Siena Heights as the Blue Devils continue to build off the best start in program history.
Lawrence Tech (4-0, 3-0 WHAC) started the game cold from the field as they missed their first three shots, while Siena Heights built an 8-0 lead. The Blue Devils chipped away at the lead as Henry made the first of her seven field goals to make it 8-2. LTU cut the lead to four, 13-9, but the Saints ended the first quarter forcing two turnovers and taking a 17-11 lead into the second quarter.
The Blue Devils opened the second on an 8-3 run capped by a Henry three to tie the game a 19-19 with 5:42 left in the half. LTU continued the comeback as they took a five point lead, 24-19 with 4:31 left on the clock. The teams would trade baskets as the quarter came to an end, but a Henry jumper at the buzzer gave the Blue Devils a 34-30 lead heading into halftime.
Henry had 17 points at halftime, while LTU shot 12-for-31 from the field. The Saints shot 12-for-29 from the field while Jaaliyah Arrington had a team high eight points.
In the third quarter, the Blue Devils shot 5-for-13 from the field as the Saints tied the game at 42-42 with 3:07 left in the quarter. The Saints took a two point lead with six seconds left on the clock, but Hali Butler (SR/Fairport Harbor, OH) nailed a three pointer as time expired to give LTU a 49-48 lead after three quarters.
Maegan Branham (JR/Michigan Center, MI) sank a three pointer to give LTU a 56-50 lead with just over seven minutes left in the game. The Saints got within two points at 59-57, but strong defense down the stretch sealed the two point victory for Lawrence Tech.
Henry led all scorers with 21 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block. Butler finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, and a block. Hayley Walkowski (SO/Marshall, MI) added nine points and five rebounds.
Lawrence Tech faces (RV) Cornerstone University (Mich.) on Tuesday, November 24 at 6 p.m. inside Don Ridler Field House.
