LTU earns its ninth WHAC win, tops Indiana Tech 73-54

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Tech women's basketball team earns a decisive Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) victory, dismantling Indiana Tech, 73-54. The win sets a new program-best nine-conference wins, exceeding last year's mark of 8-14, with four games remaining.

LTU started slow as the Warriors took an early eight point lead, 13-5, five minutes into the first half. However, the Blue Devils came roaring back with a huge 26-4 run to lead 31-17 with three minutes to play. Hayley Walkowski (FR/Marshall, MI) got a layup to fall in the final 10 seconds to send Lawrence Tech into the locker room with a 15 point halftime lead, 36-21.

Midway through the second half, the Warriors cut the deficit to nine points, 43-34, following a 9-3 run. Minutes later however, the Blue Devils responded with a 9-2 run of their own to lead by 16 points. A layup by Allison Kitchen (SO/Clio, MI) on the fast break extended LTU's lead to 21 - the largest of the afternoon. Foward Anne Tucker (SO/Rochester Hills, MI) iced the game with a late basket to take the 73-54 win. The Blue Devils are now 8-2 on the season when leading at halftime.

Hali Butler (JR/Fairport Harbor, OH) finished with a game-high 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Kitchen poured in 16 points. Bicknell added nine points and five assists for the game.

Lawrence Tech returns to the Field House on Wednesday, Feb. 11 to take on the University of Michigan-Dearborn at 6pm. LTU defeated the Wolverines handedly in the first matchup, 80-57.
