[RV] LTU hosts No. 23 Madonna at 1 p.m. on Saturday

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The [RV] Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team hosts No. 23-ranked Madonna (Mich.) University on Saturday, November 19 in Southfield, Mich. Opening tip is set for 1 p.m.

Lawrence Tech (3-2, 1-0) opened the WHAC season with a 52-39 win over University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, November 16 in Don Ridler Field House. The Blue Devils were led by Nicole Buckingham (SO/Saginaw, Mich.) with 18 points, three steals, three rebounds, and two assists. Buckingham leads LTU in scoring, averaging g 13.6 points per game. Buckingham ranks eighth in the WHAC in scoring per game, tied with Madonna's Becca Sabol.

Kaitlyn Smith (FR/Holly, Mich.) is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.2 ppg while Allison Kitchen (SR/Clio, MI) leads the team with 16 steals to go with 5.6 ppg. Kitchen also leads Lawrence Tech in rebounds while Cherilyn Banas (SO/Oxford, Mich.) has a team high 18 assists. Banas ranks sixth in the WHAC in assists per game with 3.6 and eighth in total assists. Smith ranks 22nd in three-point field goals made per game (3.2) and 26th in total three-point field goals made (16). Kitchen ranks 15th in steals per game (3.2) and 31st in total steals.

The Blue Devils ranks 10th in the NAIA in turnover margin (8.6), 13th in scoring defense per game (55.0), 14th in steals per game (12.8), and 29th in total steals (64).

Madonna (4-1, 1-0) has won their last four games including an 88-81 win over [RV] Indiana Tech on Wednesday, November 16. Michele Hayes led the way for Madonna with 43 points with Chris Harper adding 23. Hayes leads the Crusaders with 24 ppg and 4.6 assists per game while Sabol leads the way in rebounds per game (10.2) and blocks per game (1.0). Harper leads the team in steals with 11.

The Crusaders rank 22nd in the NAIA in defensive rebounds per game (29.8) and 32nd in total rebounds per game (42.6). Hayes ranks third in points per game (24.0) and 11th in total scoring (120). Sabol ranks 11th in total rebounds per game, 19th in defensive rebounds per game (6.4), 20th in offensive rebounds per game (3.8), and 23rd in total rebounds (51).

Lawrence Tech leads the all-time series 5-4, taking the last four games dating back to Jan 24, 2015. The Blue Devils last meeting with the Crusaders was in the semifinals of the 2016 WHAC Tournament with LTU cruising to a 90-74 win at Don Ridler Field House. LTU is 4-0 against Madonna at Don Ridler Field House.
