No. 19 LTU Overwhelms Concordia, 64-37

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The 19th-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University (LTU) women's basketball team defeated Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor (CUAA) 64-37 on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (19-2, 16-2 WHAC) was led by Hali Butler (SR/Fairport Harbor, OH) with 20 points and 13 rebounds including 11 defensive rebounds. Allison Kitchen (JR/Clio, MI), Nicole Buckingham (FR/Saginaw, Mich.), and Autumn Whirley (FR/Eaton, Ohio) all finished with nine points each. Maegan Branham (JR/Michigan Center, MI) added eight points, three rebounds, and three assists.

The Blue Devils jumped out to a 14-3 lead following the first quarter following a 5-for-13 performance from the field and 17 rebounds. LTU kept the Cardinals to 1-for-17 - 1-for-17 from beyond the arc - from the field with their lone basket a three-pointer at the 4:26 mark of the quarter.

Concordia (13-13, 7-11 WHAC) battled to within four points with 2:14 left in the second quarter, but that would be as close as the Cardinals would get this game. LTU went on a 9-2 run to close the quarter with a 29-18 lead.

Lawrence Tech built its lead to 15 points with 8:58 remaining in the third quarter and maintained a double-digit lead for the majority of the game. LTU closed the game with the final seven points to win 64-37.

LTU held the Cardinals to 21.2 percent from the field and 20.8 percent from the three point line, while the Blue Devils shot 48.1 percent from the field and 90.9 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Devils outrebounded CUAA 51-30 including a 43-20 advantage on the defensive boards.

Lawrence Tech is back on the court Wednesday, February 10 when they welcome No. 10 Davenport (Mich.) University to Don Ridler Field House as they battle for first place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
