[RV] Lawrence Tech falls 69-62 at Northwestern Ohio, No. 6 Davenport up next

LIMA, Ohio - The [RV] Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team fell at University of Northwestern Ohio 69-62 on Wednesday night in Lima, Ohio.

Lawrence Tech (12-8, 8-5) led after the first quarter, 15-14, but a 20-17 second quarter from Northwestern Ohio gave the Racers a 34-32 lead at the break. Christina Henry (SR/Lansing, Mich.) led the way for the Blue Devils in the first half with 11 points and three rebounds off the bench. Hayley Walkowski (JR/Marshall, MI) added seven points and one rebound while Nicole Buckingham (SO/Saginaw, Mich.) added six points and four assists.

Northwestern Ohio (10-11, 8-5) opened the third quarter with three straight baskets to build a 41-34 lead with 7:50 left in the quarter. UNOH built its lead to 12 with under a minute remaining in the third, but a Buckingham three cut it down to nine, 55-46 heading into the final 10 minutes.

Allison Kitchen (SR/Clio, MI) made it a four-point game with 1:26 left in the game, but the Blue Devils were unable to make the shots when they needed them to fall late in the game. UNOH held on to the lead to win 69-62 as they shot 51 percent from the field.

Lawrence Tech shot 37.1 percent from the field as Walkowski led all scorers with 17 points while Henry finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Buckingham added 15 points and six assists with three steals. Kitchen and Cherilyn Banas (SO/Oxford, Mich.) added seven rebounds each with Banas dishing five dimes in the loss.

Keundra Cox led the way for the Racers, finishing with 15 points while Linda Ulasi added 12 rebounds and eight points in the UNOH win.

Lawrence Tech is back in action on Saturday, January 21 when they host No. 6 Davenport (Mich.) University at Don Ridler Field House. Opening tip is set for 1 p.m.
