SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The No. 24-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team fell to Rochester (Mich.) College 68-59 on Saturday afternoon at Don Ridler Field House.
Lawrence Tech (8-2, 4-1) trailed at the half as Rochester got 19 points from Rio Dudgeon to take a 35-26 lead at half on the Blue Devils. Dudgeon was 5-for-9 from three-point range over the opening two quarters.
The Blue Devils came out strong in the third quarter, erasing the nine point deficit and taking a one point lead, 37-36, after an 11-2 run to open the quarter. Lawrence Tech took a four point lead with 1:20 left in the third and entered the fourth quarter up 53-51.
Rochester (6-3, 2-2) answered the Blue Devils with a 7-3 run to open the fourth and take a 58-54 lead with 5:43 left in the game. Danielle Hanson (SO/East Lansing, Mich.) cut it to 58-56, but they went 0-for-10 from the field down the stretch as Rochester sustained its lead and upset the Blue Devils 68-59.
Hanson led Lawrence Tech with 16 points and 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double. Nicole Buckingham (JR/Saginaw, Mich.) finished with 13 points and five rebounds while Hope Dollarhide (SO/Dorr, Mich.) added four points and five rebounds off the bench.
The Blue Devils hit the road on Wednesday as they travel down to Dearborn, Mich. to face UM-Dearborn. Opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
