No. 19 Lawrence Tech Win Streak Hits Eight with 64-52 win at Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The 19th-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team defeated Aquinas (Mich.) College 64-52 in Grand Rapids, Mich. to win their eighth straight game.

Lawrence Tech (21-4, 13-3) jumped out to a 27-13 lead after trailing 9-5 at the 7:23 mark of the first quarter. The Blue Devils ended the first on a 22-4 run as Hope Dollarhide (SO/Dorr, Mich.) had six points during the run. Nicole Buckingham (JR/Saginaw, Mich.) opened the second quarter with a pair of threes to give LTU a 33-17 lead as they built a 20 point lead - 37-17 - with 3:44 left in the quarter. Lawrence Tech went on to take a 39-22 lead into the break.

Aquinas (14-10, 9-6) was able to cut the LTU lead to 14 halfway through the third quarter, but the Blue Devils didn't let the Saints get much closer. Lawrence Tech went up 57-40 after a Teryn Kline (FR/Fort Wayne, IN) three with 6:17 on the clock enroute to a 64-52 win.

Lawrence Tech shot 42.1 percent from the field and scored 11 points off 19 turnovers. Buckingham finished with 36 points and four rebounds while Hayley Walkowski (SR/Marshall, MI) added 13 points and six rebounds. Rachel Price (SO/Springboro, Ohio) had a career high six blocks and three points. Kline finished with 14 points in 23 minutes off the bench. Michaela Faber finished with 14 points for Aquinas.

Lawrence Tech is back on the court Wednesday, Feb. 7 when they host Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
