#19 Lawrence Tech Defeats [RV] Concordia - Ann Arbor 62-52 on Wednesday Night

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The 19th-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team defeated [RV] Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor 62-52 on Wednesday night in Southfield, Mich.

Lawrence Tech (22-4, 14-3) led the Cardinals 39-36 at halftime as Concordia took an early 6-2 lead on the Blue Devils in the first quarter. The team's battled back-and-forth as they traded baskets with Kaitlyn Smith (SO/Holly, Mich.) hitting a jumper to close the quarter with LTU up 20-18.

In the second quarter, Lawrence Tech built an eight point lead on the Cardinals following a Nicole Buckingham (JR/Saginaw, Mich.) three to give LTU a 31-23 lead with 5:05 left in the quarter. Lawrence Tech held onto the lead as Concordia cut the lead to three, 39-36 at halftime. The Cardinals' Kari Borowiak led all scorers at the break with 21 points.

The Blue Devils held onto a one point lead as the third quarter came to an end, but a late three from Borowiak gave Concordia a 48-46 lead going into the final 10 minutes. That was the last points from Concordia until they scored a pair of baskets with less than seven seconds in the game as Lawrence Tech came through with a 62-52 win.

Hayley Walkowski (SR/Marshall, MI) earned 20 points and seven rebounds while Danielle Hanson (SO/East Lansing, Mich.) added 12 points and five rebounds. Teryn Kline (FR/Fort Wayne, IN) added six points off the bench. Borowiak led all scorers with 26 points for Concordia.

Lawrence Tech hosts senior day on Saturday, February 10 at Don Ridler Field House. The Blue Devils will recognize Hayley Walkowski, the lone senior on the class, for her four-year contributions to the LTU program.
