Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich. In what could be looked at as the conference game of the week on the women's side of the conference. The atmosphere within the Don Ridler Field House was electrifying on Saturday afternoon. However, the Blue Devils would fall to the Saints of Aquinas College Saturday afternoon inside the Don Ridler Field House to the tune of 66-73. This ends the Blue Devils three-game winning streak after losing a back and forth contest to the 14th ranked and top team on the women's side of the WHAC Siena Heights back on January 11th. The Blue Devils during that three-game winning streak were outscoring opponents 226-148.
The game started back and forth for both sides holding each other to just a two-point leading after the first quarter with the Blue Devils up 16-14. But the second quarter was a much different story with the Saints going up 45-31 after two-quarters of play. After regrouping in the locker room, the Blue Devils looked to bounce back in the second half and that they did cutting the lead down to just five after the third quarter down only 59-54. The fourth quarter was going to make or break the game for both teams and it did just that with the Saints outscoring the Blue Devils by just two points to keep them at bay and win the game. A slew of key possessions for the Blue Devils in which they didn't capitalize on and costly turnovers ultimately kept them from overcoming the Saints.
Overall the Blue Devils shot well shooting 27 of 65 (41.5%) from the field and 10 of 26 (38.5%) from beyond the arc. They did turn the ball over 11 times on the night compared to the Saints 7 turnovers and the bench was nonexistent just scoring 9 points throughout the game.
It was another stellar night from the Indianapolis native sophomore Kendall Fisher who had 23 points on the night 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The other leading scorer for the Blue Devils was Danielle Hanson the senior the native of East Lansing who scored 17 points and had 6 rebounds and 4 assists on the night. Danielle fell short of the 1,000 point mark tonight when she missed a free throw late that would have her join the elite club here at Lawrence Tech.
Looking ahead the Blue Devils hit the road for the next two weeks in conference clashes with Concordia Ann-Arbor, UM-Dearborn, and Madonna. The Blue Devils look to sweep the season series against Concordia-Ann Arbor and UM-Dearborn. While they look to redeem themselves against Madonna.
The Blue Devils will touch the court at home for the final two times on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, and Saturday, February 15, 2020. Both games are important as both are against the top of the league opponents in Indiana Tech and Siena Heights. Game times are set for 6 pm on Wednesday and 1 pm on Saturday.
