Second Quarter Sinks Blue Devils

Adrian, Mich - The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils women's basketball team took on the Siena Heights Saints in a battle of WHAC foe, falling 69-54 on Saturday night.

Kendall Fisher led the Blue Devils with 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Kylee Batey added 12 points. Dominique Evans pitched in eight points and five rebounds off the bench.

Peyton Banks started off the scoring with a personal 5-0 run in the first two minutes for the Saints.

Madison Hamilton's layup made it a 7-0 start for SHU, leading to a Blue Devils timeout.

Out of the timeout, Batey hit a jumper to put the Blue Devils on the board.

Following the Batey basket, however, the Saints jumped out to another 7-0 run before Fisher halted it with a jumper, and then a layup.

Sha'kyia Parker's layup extended the Saints lead to 16-6.

An Olivia Siedlecki jumper and two Batey layups led a 6-1 LTU spurt over the next minute to cut the deficit to 17-12.

Anaya Powell chipped in with a bucket for Siena Heights before Julia Huey joined the scoring with a triple, then a Fisher layup brought the Blue Devils within striking distance at 19-17, and that would be all for the first period.

A Fisher triple would give the Blue Devils their first lead of the ball game.

Jade Faris extended the Blue Devil lead to three with her layup.

Banks' layup and subsequent triple gave the Saints a 24-22 lead.

Evans made a layup to knot the game at 24.

E'Anna Won knocked down a jumper to give Siena Heights a two-point lead once again.

That shot sparked a 14-1 run that spanned the last seven-and-a-half minutes, to end the quarter.

At halftime, the home team lead by 13, 38-25.

The third quarter started with a 10-4 spurt for the Saints over the first three-and-a-half minutes, extending their lead to 19.

A Batey layup followed by a Fisher steal and layup brought it within 15, 48-33.

Two Eva Alcock free throws and a Parker triple made it a 20-point lead.

A Fisher bucket-and-one followed by an Evans jumper returned it to 15 with three minutes left in the third.

Five made free throws and a Hamilton layup down the stretch extended the Saint lead to 22 to end the period.

After three, Saints led 60-38.

Two Parker free throws extended the lead to 24.

Fisher sets up Evans for a layup, then stole the ball and got herself a layup to bring it back to 20.

Batey knocked down two free throws to bring it to 18.

An Allye Minor free throw and a Banks layup extended the lead back above 20, to 21.

Evans made a layup and Gracie Mitchell knocked down a trey, as the Blue Devils tried to claw back.

The teams would exchange baskets down the stretch as Siena Heights won 69-54.

The Blue Devils (2-5; 1-1) return to action on Wednesday, November 17th when they host Cornerstone for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
