FARMINGTON, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological Blue Devils women's hockey team opened up their season against Davenport at home. The Blue Devils got the scoring going early, scoring three in the first period and emptied the Panthers' sails early.
- Jordyn Bebus finds Sophia Buckberger who passes to Ava Jacob near the blue line for a slapshot for the first goal of the season
- Valeria Ortega sets up Buckberger for a wrister from the bench-side face-off circle for a power-play goal to take a 2-0 lead with just over 13 minutes left iin the first
- Following a Davenport timeout, the Blue Devils take advantage of a 5-on-3, when Buckberger scores off a Jacob rebound
- Davenport gets on the board in the final 4 minutes of the first, cutting the deficit to 3-1
- Buckberger finishes off the hat trick with an unassisted power-play goal in the second, 4-1Â LTU
- Davenport tacks on a goal in the third period to make it a two-goal game again
Rachel Hart stopped 41 Panther shots en route to her first victory of the season.
The Blue Devils (1-0-0) finish their home-and-home series with Davenport on Saturday, taking the ice at 3:30 pm at Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids.
