SOUTHFIELD, MICH. — The Lawrence Technological University women's tennis hosted the Cougars of Spring Arbor.
In doubles:
Miriam McCormick/
Angela Anderanin won the 3-doubles match against Olivia Creech/Isabel Abraham 6-1.
Taylor Mattingly-Harnden/
Rafaela Tedesco took the 2-doubles match versus Makenzi Sells/Victoria Herrington 6-1, securing the point for the Blue Devils
Moorea McNalley/Rebekah Pake avoided the doubles sweep, defeating
Jacqueline Alcocer/
Paola Herrera Rivera, 7-5.
In singles:
Tedesco took Creech to a third set, but ultimately could not hold on, 1-6, 6-3, 5-10.
2-seeded Herrington knocked off Alcocer 6-3, 6-4. SAU 2, LTU 1.
In the top flight, McNalley notched straight 6-3 sets against Herrera Rivera.
4-seeded Mattingly-Harnden faced Sells. Sells came away a winner 6-2, 6-0 to secure a Cougar win.
In 5-singles Abraham defeated McCormick 6-3, 6-4.
Taylor Moore won the 6-singles match against Madelyn Dell 6-3, 6-4.
Spring Arbor came away 5-2 winners.
Coach Mertz on the match: "The girls had awesome energy in doubles and took the first point of the match. Ultimately, Spring Arbor was too tough for us to hold onto the lead. There were moments to be proud of in the match, and all we can do is move forward and learn. We will hit the practice courts to work on a few changes for our next events."
The Blue Devils hit the road next weekend, as they travel to face Davenport University in Grand Rapids
