Women's Tennis Season Concludes Following Split at WHAC Tournament

MIDLAND, MICH. -- The Lawrence Technological University women's tennis team completed two round of the WHAC Tournament today. The Blue Devils defeated Aquinas in the quarterfinals, but fell to University of Northwestern Ohio in the semifinals.

Quarterfinals vs. Aquinas
In doubles:
Taylor Mattingly-Harnden/Rafaela Tedesco won the 2-doubles match against Megan Hearn/Alyssa Jack 6-1. 

Angela Anderanin/Miriam McCormick secured the doubles point for the Blue Devils, defeating Camryn Wiersema/Hannah Lourido 6-2.

Paola Herrera Rivera/Jacqueline Alcocer's match went unfinished, a LTU had secured the point already

In singles:
Alcocer owned the 4-singles court, defeating Hearn 6-0, 6-1

Tedesco did not allow Ruth Rabaut to win a game in the 2-singles match

Taylor Moore fell to Evelynn Matzke 6-1, 7-5 in 6-singles

Mattingly-Harnden earned her win against Lourido in 5-singles 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 to secure the victory.

The 1 and 3 seed matches were abandoned, as the Blue Devils had already secured an insurmountable 4-1 lead.


Semifinals vs. UNOH
In doubles:
Paola Herrera Rivera/Jacqueline Alcocer lost to Alizee Ripolles/Agathe Vaillant 6-1

Angela Anderanin/Miriam McCormick were defeated by Ana Cetina/Munisa Ashurbekova 6-2, who secured the doubles point for the Racers.

Taylor Mattingly-Harnden/Rafaela Tedesco  2-doubles match was abandoned, as UNOH had won the point 

In singles:
Ripolles took down Herrera Rivera in the top-flight 6-2, 6-0

2-singles saw Tedesco fall to Ashurbekova 6-1, 6-0

Moore faced Veronika Kovalchuk, and Kovalchuk won in straight 6-1 sets

The 3, 4 and 5 seed matches were abandoned, as the Racers had already secured an insurmountable 4-0 lead.
